More Fun in Nelles Corners

This little 4 year old loves her Grandpa...and I'm sure she'll be sad to say goodbye to him this afternoon. At least we'll be back -- in a month!
Thank you SO much to Nana and Grandpa for entertaining and caring for us these past two weeks! We loved playing outside with you, flying kites, working in the yard, visiting the zoo and Byng Park, joining you at church, and heading to the lake at Auntie Barb's. We love you!
Follow us as we head to St. Catharines for a couple days and then back to Opa and Oma's! Daddy arrives in 9 days!

Moving Along

Moving on with our summer adventures...
The Canada Day festivities continued on the 2nd with a nice BBQ at Uncle Fred and Auntie Sarah's. Oma and Opa, Grandpa and Nana, and Leah's grandparents all joined in for the fun. The kids ate mostly chips for dinner and then had extra dessert, of course. Gotta love grandparents. :)
Everybody gets a turn to hold the kite...
...until (oops!) Geneva lets it go and we lose it in the neighbor's field.
Then Grandpa put on a great fireworks show for everyone!
 There were mixed reviews...
but we all had fun staying up late!
Then later in the week we squeezed in a few more hugs and kisses with the babies and even managed to get a photo of all SIX kiddos together (yes, we may have bribed them, and I'm okay with that)! And after that we were off!
We were welcomed at Nana and Grandpa's house with open arms and have spent the majority of our time outside playing and "working" with Grandpa. The kids have also enjoyed waking up early (sorry!) and sitting outside on the front and back porches. This morning, Friday the 13th, we watched thousands of motorcycles make their way down the adjacent highway to Port Dover and back. Hopefully Grandpa and Nana are not too sick of us yet because we'll be here a few more days!
On Tuesday we took a trip with Nana to the Brantford zoo. It's crazy how different one zoo can be from another. One benefit of a smaller zoo was the cool creature show where the kids got to pet a snake, tortoise, alligator, and (very large) lizard and also got to see a baby kangaroo, baby lion, and a baby lemur.
Sydney was a bit crabby (can we say lack of sleep and too much sun?) until I gave her a map and her new pink camera to document our trip with.
Here is a collage of some of her photos:
We even got to feed some goats, deer, and bears!
Yesterday Grandpa and Nana took us to a very cool 2-acre swimming pool and splash pad at the Byng Island Conservation Area. The kids loved this because they could wade into the water and play in the shallow area to their hearts' content. Perfect for the hot day and complete with a picnic lunch!
And the adventures continue! Stay tuned for more of our homeless summer. :)

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Birthday, Canada! I hope you like Barbie cake.
A bit of background: When I originally thought we would be driving to Canada on Sydney's birthday, I promised her a Barbie cake when we got to Oma and Opa's. Well, plans got delayed, but a promise is a promise...especially when it comes to 4-year-olds and birthdays. We celebrated Canada's birthday this morning by eating cake (I think the anticipation was better than the cake!), doing a little baby holding, and catching the Canada Day parade at the park.
