G&A: Day 9 & 10 of Life

Asher & Geneva had their one week doctor appointment yesterday and are already weighing 6 lbs 9 oz and 6 lbs 8 oz, respectively.  They are changing already -- here's a peek:

Easter Sunday

This year we spent a relaxing Easter Sunday at home with the kids and my mom. The Easter egg hunt that we originally thought we might have to have in the hospital room turned into a nice little treat in the front yard for Sydney. After a little help with the first couple eggs, she got the hang of it and kept saying "More? More?"

Butterflies

Sydney and I took our first trip to see the butterfly exhibit at Frederick Meijer Gardens this weekend. The second we walked into the exhibit and she realized there were butterflies flying all around her, she was hooked. There was a lot of pointing, staring, crouching, marveling, and even some discussion of how the caterpillar pods turn into butterflies (thanks to The Very Hungry Caterpillar book by Eric Carle). I especially loved seeing the difference in Sydney's reactions between this year and last year....I'm sure we will be taking many more trips to the Gardens this spring and summer!

The Latest on Sydney

It seems that we have been subconsciously spoiling Sydney lately in anticipation of her getting the short end of the stick once the twins make their big debut....well, hopefully not, but she has been on the good end of some big purchases around here lately.

Here Sydney is in her new playhouse (aka "play-doh house," as she has been calling it) and loving every minute so far. Hopefully it will keep her occupied for a while!

Sydney also made the move this week to a "big girl bed," otherwise known as a twin mattress on the floor for the time being. So far, so good, and we are so proud of her! The transition has been almost seamless. Syd's crib has been disassembled and the mattress moved to the twins' room, which is now overflowing with furniture within its four small walls. More photos on that to come!

Sporting some major bedhead after her first nap in the new bed...we're just excited that she has enough hair to even get bedhead!

Winter Fun

In my "condition" (and my tendency toward clumsiness), I haven't been taking Sydney outside much this winter. We did buy her a little sled recently though and she seems to enjoy it quite a bit. Her and Dan had some winter fun on it a couple times this month, and we're forecasted to get a bunch more snow this week, so it should get some good use coming up!  A special thanks to our Winnipeg family for passing down the snowsuits and for motivating us to go outside even when it's cold!

32 weeks....WOW.  Enough said.  Non-stress tests start next week but otherwise things are moving right along!

31 Weeks & Ultrasound #8 - February 12, 2010

Well I may weigh 28 lbs more than normal, but apparently I can only blame about 8 of that on the babes!  Today they measured approximately 3 lbs 11 oz (girl) and 3 lbs 14 oz (boy).  They must be running out of room in there!  It sure seems like they are trying to punch an escape route through my belly sometimes.  I think we are entering unchartered territory here in terms of belly size....yikes.  Hanging in there though and feeling very blessed!
